Looks like George W. Bush has way more time to blog and respond to comments than I do

Trip Notes From The Middle East

So the white house is blogging… good. But instead of being open about it … “here is a presidential aid / representative fielding your questions and relaying experiences” we have “yes, here we have the President of the United States of America, taking time to sit down and write cookie cutter responses to random questions”. Right…

Aside from that– what’s up with this closing line?

I’m looking forward to seeing Laura and Barney and Beazley and the Kitty. After all, there’s no better place to lay your head than in your own bed with people you love.

“Lay your head in your own bed with people you love”? Am I reading into this too much or does that sound really sexual– and hilarious, considering that the “people” he just mentioned were his wife and three pets.

Use real words!!

It’s cute that Jet Blue calls my itinerary an “E-tinerary” (actually, it’s not cute), but I wish they would also use the word “itinerary” SOMEWHERE in the email. Searching for “austin itinerary” just now did not find it for me!

Looks like Obama gets the tools — let’s see if he uses them.

As a follow up to this post– Barack Obama has launched a new campaign site, complete with profiles, social network tools, blogs, and excellent graphic and UI design. There is a main blog for “staff on the New Media team at Obama for America headquarters”

But where is Obama’s own blog?

YOUTUBERS

I just watched this excellent video, which I found through Jim’s blog. Jim describes it very well:

…a nine minute montage that suggests something compelling about the complex intersections of technology and identity -on Youtube specifically but also much more generally.

Zack Exley tells Obama to get a clue

Zack Exley has written a plea to Barack Obama, urging him to start respecting the internet/email medium and using its power to have a more direct relationship with his supporters. This essay is well written and presents ideas that are, unfortunately, very novel in today’s political world. His model is very cluetrain and, in my opinion, spot on.
