Social media safety poster

Posted in: general

I saw this poster in the YMCA. As far as I can tell it’s the regular monthly YMCA news bulletin.

A huge portion of it is devoted to the section Kids and Teens: Stay Safe When Going Online and Using Social Media

I’ll try to get a better photo where the safety tips are legible. It’s great to see this sort of thing — I imagine it’s much more relevant to most kids than the Don’t Do Drugs tips from a decade ago that it replaced.

The scene presented is pretty amusing — do kids these days bring their laptops to school and hang out on the school’s wireless between classes? I honestly have no idea. Also, they really went the extra mile on diversity of race and personality on this one — if I’m not mistaken, that half-asian girl is wearing a necktie.

What’s up with the 9 year old in the back, who looks like he’s seeing something he’s not supposed to? Clearly, all the other 12 and 13 year olds have been looking at porn at middle school for years, but the kid in the back is losing innocence as we speak.
